If It Ain’t Broke….
We’ve worked hard over the last few years to give members the fixture list that they want for the competitive season. That’s largely off the back of member responses to the match surveys we’ve done at the end of each season. Our strategy remains the same this year, Starting the season with some team events to ease everyone in and give the course maximum opportunity to be ready for the individual events mid-season towards Finals Day.
The Course
The course will move from it’s winter state to fully in play from this Monday 6th April. General Plays will be enabled again for all 5 courses, Black, White, Yellow, Red and Blue.
A lot is staying the same but there are some changes
Match Secretary Duties
Let’s start with the administration. I’ll be assisted by Michael Hart Jnr this year who has assumed the role of Assistant Match Secretary. You may have noticed a couple of emails coming through from Michael already. Having stepped up to support the overall administration and member experience I’ll let Michael deal with the day to day Match & Handicap duties for the season so anything competition related please go to Michael at assistantmatchsecretary@ferenezegolfclub.co.uk.
Michael will have me to support him but as you did with me please show some patience as he gets to grip with the role and please hold off any queries when he’s competing and before competitive rounds.
Alongside the Match Committee I’ll work with Michael on continuing to improve your competition experience.
Order of Merits
The FerEx enters it’s 5th year. Alongside the nett version we’ll also have a scratch version with prizes being donated by past club champion Richie Elrick for that competition.
Both the Scratch and Handicap versions of the Tuesday Medals will remain and following some survey feedback we’re also introducing a Stableford OOM on a Tuesday which also means there will be a Stableford winner on a Tuesday also to encourage those with blemishes to keep competing.
Meeting Series
We’ve got a cumulative event for the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings for both nett and scratch. On the nett side the highest points total for all 3 rounds combined and the lowest 3 aggregate scores for the scratch.
Fixtures
Couple of places I’d refer you to for fixtures.
- BRS Golf Scoring App has all of the Events in date and category order under Events and you can also find it here at our Golf Genius Hub page.
- On the dedicated webpage. You’ll find all of the competitions here as well as Team games, Visiting parties and other events, wee but like the old fixture book did back in the day. Fixtures and Events
Match Plays
Michael mentioned in his email on Thursday that match play registration closes on Sunday. We’re a good bit off last years. entry levels and you know I don’t do going backwards on entries.
We’re at 94 for the Hugh Ross (136 last year) 54 for the Fairfax (110 last year) and 20 for the Neilson Cup (29 last year)
